Josh Decker earned his degree in Music Education from Ohio Wesleyan University as well as a Masters in Trumpet performance from Carnegie Mellon University. His teachers include Dr. Larry Griffin and George Vosburgh, former Principal trumpet of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

    As a performer, Josh is a section player with the symphonies of Westerville and Newark-Granville. Additionally, He has had several residencies with the Short North Stage, co-founded the brass/funk ensemble Employees of Funk, was a theme park performer at Dutch Wonderland, and has played extensively with the Pittsburgh-based group, Mariachi International. One of Josh’s solo performance highlights was performing the National Anthem at the 2013 NCAA Track and Field Finals.

    Most recently, Josh was appointed as the Adjunct Professor of Trumpet at Ohio Wesleyan University, his alma mater. Josh is an in-demand educator throughout the central, Ohio area, where he has a large private studio of brass students. Many of Josh’s students currently or have previously performed in the city’s illustrious youth ensembles and have gone on to study music in college.
